What People Are Saying

"It is a true honor to write this testimonial for Ty Holmes- a dedicated School Board Director, community leader, veteran, and role model whose life and work continue to inspire those around him.

Ty’s commitment to our schools goes far beyond policy or position. He is fully present, attending school events, visiting classrooms, reading to students, and engaging directly with families and educators. He leads with his heart and makes genuine connections that leave a lasting impact.

As a veteran who proudly served in two branches of the military, Ty brings a deep sense of discipline, courage, and service to everything he does. But what stands out most is his passion for children and his relentless advocacy for equity, opportunity, and belonging in our schools. He serves on multiple community boards that support youth and education, and he consistently uses his platform to uplift others.

Ty is open about the challenges he has faced in life, and he uses those experiences to empower others. He’s not just a leader- he’s a living example of resilience, perseverance, and authenticity. His story encourages others to embrace who they are and to rise above their circumstances.

This message comes through powerfully in his children’s book. The story is a moving tribute to second chances, compassion, and the transformative power of love. It’s relatable, heartfelt, and filled with hope- a reflection of Ty’s own journey and the values he brings into every space he enters.

Ty Holmes connects, inspires, and engages with people from all walks of life. He celebrates others’ successes, lifts up those who need a hand, and serves as a role model for students, families, and the entire community. His leadership is rooted in purpose and compassion, and we are all better for it."

"I first had the honor to get to know my friend,  Ty Holmes, at Lincoln Elementary School in Summit, NJ when we were just kids about fifty years ago.  Even in those early years,  I could see Ty’s ability to connect with and lead others, whether it was the classroom or Hilltopper Rec. League Football. Years later I was so excited when Ty announced he was going to release a book with the most fitting title, Tyler The Unbreakable Kid.  As a teacher, I was immediately drawn to the many lessons the story gives to children including resilience, kindness, and serving others. So when Ty offered to come to our school, Mt Horeb Elementary,  to read this book I jumped at the opportunity.  I was so taken by Ty’s instant ability to engage with our fifth graders and teachers throughout the book, answering questions, and talking about his life story for over 90 minutes.  The feedback from the students and staff alike was amazing, as one parent mentioned that her son would not stop talking about Ty all weekend. Ty’s story of service to others, leadership, and never giving up is an inspiration for us all."

"Ty, The Unbreakable Kid is a gift to children who may feel uncertain about themselves or overwhelmed by the complex world around them. Ty represents the child within each of us—hopeful, resilient, and determined to make a difference. I feel truly fortunate to know the “grown-up Ty,” who, despite (or perhaps because of) the challenges he has faced, continues to embody the same tenacious spirit as his younger self. His energy is contagious, and he stands as an inspiring example for youth of all ages."
